This year marks the 22nd running of one of the most scenic trail events in the state. We have a capacity of 3,500 participants running and walking the inside trails of Mackinac Island during the last open weekend of the season. All who register will enjoy special race features – commemorative medals, a race apparel in Great Turtle fashion, special Halloween events for adults and kids, great end

2017 Mackinac Island Trio Series! Register for all three races and you will receive a special Mackinac Island Trio Series medal. This will be a separate medal from the other finisher's medals you will receive at the completion of all three races, and will only be awarded following the Great Turtle Half Marathon. Registration for the 2018 Mackinac Island Trio Series will open in January of 2018. FREE Race Photos! This year we are offering FREE race photos to all of our participants. Christmas in Mackinaw activities include: The annual tree lighting procession line up at the Marina parking lot Parade - This is a go regardless of weather. The parade of caroler wagons, walkers, decorated vehicles and City Trucks will honk and sing to the community Christmas tree at Indian Pathways Park. Santa has candy canes for all. Parade will go north on Huron to Central Ave, west on Central Ave to Nicolet Street and Indian Pathways Park.

Mackinaw City Mackinaw City Winterfest Ice Fishing Tournament

Winterfest Ice Fishing Tournament - Carp Lake Marina, only 7 miles from Downtown Mackinaw City. Contestants will meet at the DNR Boat Launch Access at Paradise Lake. All entry fees include a chance ticket valued at $5. The three categories to be judged are: heaviest pike, heaviest walleye and heaviest pan fish. Each category carries a $300 top prize. Application forms are available at Carp Lake General Store and Clyde's Bar until 3 p.m. on Friday. Participants may preregister from 3-6 p.m. on Friday in the headquarters trailer at the public access. Day of tournament registration is from 6:30-8 a.m. at the headquarters trailer.

Outhouse Racers Wanted! Create an Outhouse or register to a team race one of ours. Join in the Outhouse Races Saturday at 2pm on the Shepler Lot located on Huron Ave and Central Ave next to the Dixie Saloon and Oreilly's Irish Pub. This novelty event starts with the parade of outhouses which proves to be colorful and entertaining. Prizes vary but judging for "Best of Show" has to do with design, decor and team theme or "just because". The races are open to adult and junior teams. This year the prize money is sponsored by area businesses. Rules are as follows: The outhouse must be 4x4x6 on skis. Must have a 5 person team, one inside and 4 outside to push or pull. Must have a toilet seat. Must have material to wipe with. Entry must have a name. Entrants under 18 must have a parent's signature and all teams/participants must sign a waiver. This event is coordinated by the Dixie Saloon and friends. The purse will be $500.00 this year for first place.

The Labatt Blue U.P. Pond Hockey Championship

5 minutes from Mackinaw City. Hotels are Available in Mackinaw City. The Labatt Blue U.P. Pond Hockey Championship will be played on the Wild Ice of Moran Bay, Lake Huron, downtown St. Ignace, Michigan! We hope to have 160 teams competing for prizes! This is a MAHA sanctioned event - Sanction #: MIT1614292245.

We had only 27 teams at the first Labatt Blue UP Pond Hockey Championship in St. Ignace in 2007. In 2016 we had 201 teams! Our pond hockey tournament is played on the frozen ice of Moran Bay, Lake Huron. We are one of the few tournaments where our 'pond' is actually one of the Great Lakes! We create thirty 75' x 150' rinks and play over 300 games during our fun-filled weekend! We have a heated Labatt Blue Zone, and 'locker rooms' on the ice for the players. Teams representing 10 states competed in 2016 - Florida, Indiana, Illinois, Kentucky, Michigan, Missouri, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin.

29th Annual Zoo-De-Mackinac - Harbor Springs & Mackinaw City, MI

THIS IS NOT A RACE!! The Zoo-de-Mackinac is a collection of outdoor enthusiasts (2,200+ last year) who want to enjoy a little physical exercise together in one of the most beautiful areas in the state of Michigan. The bike ride starts Saturday morning at Boyne Highlands Resort and spans 51 miles along Lake Michigan on a paved road with very little automobile traffic. Riders pedal through rolling countryside and trillium covered forests, along sandy beaches, and are surrounded by breathtaking views of Lake Michigan from 400' high bluffs. We stop approximately half way, at a unique place called the Legs Inn for a leisurely lunch and to swap stories. The ride continues on to Mackinaw City, where Arnold Ferry boats have been chartered for the ride over to Mackinac Island. As the evening wears on, the island comes alive with The Gatehouse (formerly The French Outpost), Pink Pony, and Horns hosting post ride parties with incredible live bands!

Memorial Weekend Pageant

During this weekend in Mackinaw City: Over 400 cast members will re-create events that took place between the French, British and Indian tribes, on June 2, 1763. This historically rich event will take place for the 51st consecutive year. The Fort Michilimackinac Pageant is the longest running, free historical Memorial Day performance in the Nation. Visitors will meet famous Indian Chiefs: Miniavavan and Matchekewis of the Ojibwa tribe, and Wawatam who becomes a blood brother to Alexander Henry and later saves his life.

Come watch and see! Schedule of events for memorial weekend in Mackinaw City, MI there is no admission charge for the historical reenactment pageant or related events.

Annual Mackinaw Memorial Bridge Run

Put your running shoes on and meet us in Mackinaw City for the Annual Mackinaw Memorial Day Bridge Run! This is a unique opportunity as only two times a year runners are allowed to run the "Mighty Mac" ! The other possibility, being the Fall Colors Bridge Run held in October. Runners must register in advance and be able to run a minimum of 12 minutes per mile to race in the event. Time: 6:00am to 12:00pm

Memorial Day Observance

A brief and informal Memorial Day observance at Fort Mackinac Post Cemetery on Mackinac Island, to pay tribute to the soldiers who served at Fort Mackinac. Soldiers will assemble at 10:00 a.m. at Fort Mackinac. They will march to the cemetery, perform a short ceremony and salute, and return to the fort. Open to the public.

Annual St. Ignace Car Show

5 miles from Mackinaw City. This internationally acclaimed event takes place Just 5 miles from Mackinaw City. This well known St. Ignace Car Show was formed in 1975 and the first show was held the last Saturday of June 1976. 134 vehicles were on display that year. The show continued to grow each and every year and by 2004, 2500 collector vehicles were on display with 100,000 spectators observing.

It's just a short trip from Mackinaw City.

Port Huron to Mackinac Island Yacht Race - Mackinaw City

Skippers may choose to race north on Lake Huron from Port Huron, race the 235-mile Shore Line Course up the Michigan coastline or the 290-mile Southampton Course, which directs sailors toward Southampton Ontario, and then to the finish line at Mackinac Island. The race is viewable from Mackinaw City.

The fastest boats will usually finish Sunday evening

Corvette Crossroads Auto Show

An American automotive classic, the Corvette, will be celebrated the weekend before Labor Day weekend during the Annual Corvette Crossroads Auto Show. Beginning Friday, Corvettes of various vintages will begin arriving in the area, cruising and getting registered for Saturday’s festivities. On Saturday, hundreds of Corvettes will be on display at the Mackinaw Crossings Mall parking lot from 10am to 2 pm. A poker walk for show participants will also be offered during the day.

Peoples choice style of judging will determine winners in several different award classes. Winners will be announced at an awards presentation at 3 pm. Saturday’s festivities will culminate with a parade of Corvettes across the Mackinac Bridge, beginning at 7 pm. All Corvettes are welcome and there is a nominal fee for non show registered vettes.

61st Labor Day Bridge Walk

Join thousands of pedestrians as they participate in a long standing tradition, the LABOR DAY BRIDGE WALK. This event has been held every year since 1958. The walk begins at 7:00 a.m. on Labor Day and concludes at 11:00 a.m. This is the only day of the year that walking the "Mighty Mac" is allowed

The Labor Day Bridge walk is recognized as "The World's Greatest Walking Event"! The walk brings over 70,000 people to the area. Buses are available for transportation to the North end of the bridge. Participants begin on the St. Ignace side of the bidge in the Upper Peninsula and walk south to Mackinaw City in the Lower Peninsula. At the finish line you are awarded a numbered certificate of completion. Make the LABOR DAY BRIDGE WALK a new tradition and join us in Mackinaw City this year.
