Parade, Chili Cook Off and Outhouse Parade and race at 2:00 p.m. Celebrate winter in Mackinaw City during our annual Winterfest. Enjoy a variety of fun outdoor events as our famous outhouse races, city wide poker walk, chili cookoff and more. Sign up for the ice fishing contest in Paradise Lake.

Winterfest Ice Fishing Tournament - Paradise Lake Marina, only 7 miles from Downtown Mackinaw City.

Contestants will meet at the Paradise Lake Marina.  All entry fees include a chance ticket valued at $5. The three categories to be judged are: heaviest pike, heaviest walleye and heaviest pan fish. Each category carries a $300 top prize.

Application forms are available at  Carp Lake General Store and Clyde's Bar until 3 p.m. on Friday. Participants may preregister from 3-6 p.m. on Friday in the headquarters trailer at the public access. Day of tournament registration is from 6:30-8 a.m. at the headquarters trailer.

During this weekend in Mackinaw City over 400 cast members will re-create events that took place between the French, British and Indian tribes, on June 2, 1763. This historically rich event will take place for the 51st consecutive year. The Fort Michilimackinac Pageant is the longest running, free historical Memorial Day performance in the Nation. Visitors will meet famous Indian Chiefs: Miniavavan and Matchekewis of the Ojibwa tribe, and Wawatam who becomes a blood brother to Alexander Henry and later saves his life.

A brief and informal Memorial Day observance at Fort Mackinac Post Cemetery on Mackinac Island, to pay tribute to the soldiers who served at Fort Mackinac. Soldiers will assemble at 10:00 a.m. at Fort Mackinac. They will march to the cemetery, perform a short ceremony and salute, and return to the fort. Open to the public.

Celebrating Mackinac’s lilac collection began in 1949. The idea was to bring people to the Island to enjoy a great horse drawn parade amidst the lovely lilacs that fragrance the Island in June. What began as a one day event called the Mackinac Island Lilac Day has blossomed into a ten day festival.

This year theme is Mackinac Island! A team of judges votes on all parade entries with this theme in mind as well as other criteria for selecting those who will receive the coveted parade trophies.

5 miles from Mackinaw City. This internationally acclaimed event takes place Just 5 miles from Mackinaw City. This well known St. Ignace Car Show was formed in 1975 and the first show was held the last Saturday of June 1976. 134 vehicles were on display that year. The show continued to grow each and every year and by 2004, 2500 collector vehicles were on display with 100,000 spectators observing.

The Chicago Yacht Club is proud to have a longstanding tradition of yachting excellence. The Club's most famous event is the Chicago Yacht Club Race to Mackinac, which is the longest annual freshwater sailing race in the world. Boats will pass under the Mackinac Bridge in Mackinaw City heading East. Perfect view from area hotels like Best Western Dockside, Hamilton Inn Select and Clarion Hotels in Mackinaw City.

Skippers may choose to race north on Lake Huron from Port Huron, race the 235-mile Shore Line Course up the Michigan coastline or the 290-mile Southampton Course, which directs sailors toward Southampton Ontario, and then to the finish line at Mackinac Island. The race is viewable from Mackinaw City.
